Daylight, sunlight and right of light: three different tests
A planning officer considers whether your building would harm a neighbour's outlook and light, as part of the wider assessment. A daylight or sunlight report, if one is asked for, is a specialist calculation made by a surveyor. A right of light is something else again: a private legal right over a particular window, argued between owners.
We draw the scheme, and we do not carry out those calculations. What we can do is give the surveyor accurate sections showing window heights, roof pitches and distances. The national register on the planning data platform holds 11 conservation-area entries for Havering, counted borough-wide (our analysis of the MHCLG Planning Data Platform conservation-area dataset), so check Havering's own map for your Gidea Park plot early. A new dwelling in a conservation area needs a design and access statement, per government guidance, which refers to development of one or more dwellings.

Statutory decision periods run 8 weeks for an application that is not major development and 13 weeks for major development (article 34).
