Our analysis of MHCLG planning application statistics, table PS2 (released 24 Sep 2026), counts 337 householder decisions in Islington over the four quarters 2025 Q3 to 2026 Q2, including prior approvals. 93% of them were granted, and 97% of the householder decisions excluding prior approvals were made within 8 weeks.
The statutory period is 8 weeks beginning with the day after the council receives an application that is not major development (DMPO 2015, article 34). A complete, consistent first submission gives the case officer less to query within that period.

Appeals against Islington refusals
Our analysis of the Planning Inspectorate Casework Database (released 1 Oct 2026, Casework Database 2609) counts 180 householder appeals decided for Islington, decisions 2021 to 2026. Only 25% were allowed.
